H1H1 Flu Information

May 6, 2009 - 9:30 am update

Thanks to everyone for being cautious and safe during this H1N1 flu season.  Continue to use safe common sense practices to avoid the contagion.

It is important that all residents continue to take preventive measures for protecting themselves and others against transmission of the flu. Please continue to take common sense precautions like covering your cough and washing your hands to stay healthy.

The County of Santa Clara has produced two informational PDF files that you may want to download.

Be Prepared!

Take everyday actions to stay healthy. Influenza is thought to spread mainly person-to-person through coughing or sneezing of infected people.

  • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. Germs spread that way.
  • If you have flulike symptoms, stay home and update your employer regularly. CDC recommends that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
